Live Covid-19 updates for 12 November

The Taranaki town of Stratford is on high alert today after six people tested positive for Covid-19.

One person is in hospital and the other five are isolating at home. All of the cases have a link to the Auckland outbreak.

Health officials have been warning since last week there could be undetected transmission in the community after traces of the virus were first found in waste water on 5 November.

Traces of the virus were found in waste water last week on Monday and the testing since then has returned two positive and one negative result.

A pop up testing centre is being set up and anyone with symptoms is being urged to get tested including recent visitors.

The Ministry of Health says contact tracing is underway as officials work to find out if the virus has spread further.
